Is all your jewelry solid 14K gold?
Yes. The majority of our jewelry is crafted in solid 14K gold, making it durable enough for everyday wear while maintaining the beauty and value of fine jewelry. We do not sell gold-plated fashion jewelry as part of our core collection.
Some specialty items may be crafted in other precious metals, such as 18K gold, sterling silver, or platinum. Whenever this is the case, the metal type will always be clearly stated in the product description.
Do you sell 18K gold jewelry?
Yes.
While our collection primarily features solid 14K gold jewelry, we also offer select engagement rings, wedding bands, and custom-designed jewelry in 18K gold. Certain pieces may already be available in 18K, while others can be specially ordered upon request.
If you're interested in a particular design in 18K gold, please contact us and we'll be happy to discuss the available options.
Is your jewelry gold plated?
No.
BOS Jewelers specializes in fine jewelry crafted from solid precious metals. The majority of our collection is made from solid 14K gold, with select pieces available in 18K gold, platinum, or sterling silver.
If a piece is made from a different material, it will always be clearly identified in the product description so you can shop with complete confidence.
What metal colors do you offer?
Many of our jewelry designs are available in:
14K Yellow Gold
14K White Gold
14K Rose Gold
Availability varies by design. While many styles are stocked in yellow gold, numerous pieces can also be specially ordered in white or rose gold.
Select engagement rings, wedding bands, and custom jewelry may also be available in 18K gold or platinum.
If you're looking for a specific metal color that's not listed, please contact us—we'll be happy to let you know if it can be specially ordered.
Will 14K gold tarnish?
Solid 14K gold does not rust or corrode like base metals and is an excellent choice for everyday fine jewelry.
Over time, your jewelry may naturally lose some of its shine due to everyday exposure to lotions, soaps, cosmetics, and normal wear. This is not tarnishing, but simply a buildup of residue or light surface wear.
Regular cleaning and occasional professional polishing will help restore your jewelry's original brilliance.
Is 14K gold suitable for everyday wear?
Absolutely.
One of the reasons BOS Jewelers specializes in solid 14K gold is because it offers an excellent balance of beauty, durability, and long-lasting value. It's strong enough for everyday wear while maintaining the luxurious appearance expected from fine jewelry.
To help preserve your jewelry for years to come, we recommend removing it before swimming, exercising, heavy lifting, gardening, or using household cleaning products. We also suggest having frequently worn jewelry professionally cleaned and inspected periodically to ensure prongs, clasps, and settings remain secure.
Is 14K gold better than 18K gold?
Both are excellent choices, and the best option depends on your lifestyle and personal preference.
14K Gold is our most popular choice because it offers exceptional durability, making it ideal for everyday jewelry such as rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. Its added strength helps it better withstand daily wear.
18K Gold contains a higher percentage of pure gold, giving it a richer yellow color and a more luxurious appearance. Because it is softer than 14K gold, it is often chosen for fine jewelry, engagement rings, and customers who prefer a higher gold content.
At BOS Jewelers, we recommend 14K gold for most everyday jewelry, while 18K gold is an excellent option for those seeking a richer gold color or a custom luxury piece. Our jewelry specialists are always happy to help you choose the metal that's right for your lifestyle and preferences.
Gemstones & Pearls
Are your gemstones natural?
The majority of the gemstones used in our jewelry are natural gemstones, carefully selected for their beauty and quality.
We also offer select jewelry featuring lab-grown diamonds, laboratory-grown gemstones, or gemstone simulants such as cubic zirconia (CZ). Whenever a gemstone is laboratory-grown or simulated, it will always be clearly identified in the product title and description so you can shop with complete confidence.
What types of gemstones do you use?
We use a variety of natural gemstones including emeralds, rubies, blue sapphires, aquamarines, garnets, opals, pearls, turquoise, malachite, mother of pearl, amethyst, blue topaz, citrine and many others. Product descriptions will always specify the gemstone used.
Are your natural diamonds treated?
No.
Our natural diamonds are not clarity enhanced, laser drilled, fracture filled, color enhanced, or otherwise treated unless specifically disclosed. We believe in complete transparency regarding every diamond we sell.
Are your diamonds certified?
Most center diamonds sold for engagement rings include independent grading reports, typically from GIA for natural diamonds and IGI for laboratory-grown diamonds. Product descriptions will indicate whether a grading report is included.
Are your diamonds conflict-free?
Yes.
We work with trusted suppliers who comply with the Kimberley Process and applicable industry standards designed to prevent the trade of conflict diamonds.
What is the quality of your diamonds?
Most of our natural diamonds fall within:
Color: D–I
Clarity: VS2–SI1
Certain promotional items may use commercial-quality diamonds, which are always disclosed in the product description.
Do you sell lab-grown gemstones?
Yes.
In addition to natural gemstones, BOS Jewelers offers select jewelry featuring lab-grown diamonds and, in certain collections, laboratory-grown colored gemstones.
Every product is clearly labeled to identify whether the gemstone is natural, laboratory-grown, or simulated. We believe in complete transparency so you'll always know exactly what you're purchasing.
What is the difference between natural, lab-grown, and simulated gemstones?
Understanding the difference can help you choose the jewelry that's right for you.
Natural Gemstones are formed by nature over thousands or even millions of years beneath the earth.
Laboratory-Grown Gemstones have the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as their natural counterparts but are created in a controlled laboratory environment.
Simulated Gemstones, such as Cubic Zirconia (CZ), are designed to resemble natural gemstones in appearance but have different chemical compositions and physical properties.
At BOS Jewelers, every gemstone is accurately described so you can purchase with confidence.
Are your pearls cultured?
Yes.
Unless otherwise stated, the pearls featured in our jewelry are fresh water cultured pearls, selected for their quality, luster, and beauty.
Because pearls are natural organic gems, slight variations in color, shape, and surface characteristics are normal and contribute to the uniqueness of every piece.
Necklaces & Bracelets
What length are most necklaces?
Most of our necklaces are 18 inches in length and include jump rings at 16 and 17 inches, allowing you to adjust the necklace to three different lengths for layering or personal preference.
Some styles may vary in length depending on the design. The exact chain length is always listed in the product description.
What length are most bracelets?
Most of our women's bracelets measure 7 inches, and many include an additional jump ring at 6½ inches for an adjustable fit.
Children's bracelets are generally 5½ to 6 inches, depending on the style.
The exact bracelet length is always provided in each product description.
Do chains come with pendants?
It depends on the design.
Many of our pendants include a matching chain, while others are sold as the pendant only.
Every product description clearly indicates whether a chain is included and specifies the chain style and length when applicable.
If you have any questions before purchasing, our team will be happy to assist you.
Can I request a different chain length?
Yes.
Many necklaces can be ordered with a different chain length, depending on the design and chain style.
Additional charges may apply for longer chains or different chain styles.
Please contact us before placing your order, and we'll be happy to discuss the available options and provide a quotation.
Ring Sizing
Is the first ring sizing free?
Yes.
The first ring sizing is complimentary on most rings purchased from BOS Jewelers.
Please let us know your ring size before your order is processed so we can size your ring prior to shipment whenever possible.
If additional sizing is needed after the complimentary sizing, resizing and shipping charges may apply.
Which rings cannot be resized?
Although many rings can be resized, certain designs cannot due to their construction.
These may include:
Full eternity bands
Some eternity-style anniversary rings
Certain fashion rings with gemstones extending around the band
Some alternative metal rings
Selected designer styles where resizing could affect the integrity of the design
If a ring cannot be resized, this will be noted in the product description or discussed with you before purchase.
Religious Jewelry
Are your religious medals blessed?
No.
Our religious medals are not blessed before shipment.
Many customers choose to have their medal blessed by their priest or clergy member after receiving it, making the blessing a personal and meaningful part of their faith journey.
Can religious medals be engraved?
Many of our religious medals can be engraved, depending on the design and the amount of available space.
Engraving is a beautiful way to personalize a medal with a name, initials, date, sacramental occasion, or meaningful message.
If engraving is available for a particular medal, our team will be happy to help you choose the best engraving style and wording.
Please note that engraved jewelry is considered a Custom Order and is Final Sale.
What is Mother of Pearl?
Mother of Pearl is a beautiful natural organic material formed inside certain mollusks, including oysters and abalones.
Known for its soft iridescent glow, Mother of Pearl has been treasured in fine jewelry for centuries and is especially popular in religious medals, crosses, earrings, and children's jewelry.
Because it is a natural material, every piece of Mother of Pearl is unique and may display subtle variations in color and luster.
What is the difference between a cross and a crucifix?
Although the terms are often used interchangeably, they have different meanings.
A Cross is the traditional Christian symbol consisting of two intersecting beams and represents Christ's love, faith, hope, and the promise of salvation.
A Crucifix includes the figure of Jesus Christ on the cross and serves as a powerful reminder of His sacrifice and redemption through His crucifixion.
Both are meaningful expressions of faith, and the choice between a cross and a crucifix is a matter of personal devotion and religious tradition.
